I'm pregnant with #6 (1 Angel baby), and I think my greatest area of struggle is laundry. I'm a low-key (aka lazy) housekeeper and it's such a struggle to find a place for everyone's clothes and there's always a mountain of laundry. I tried color coded bins for clean clothes ( no folding required, LOL) but I'm pretty sure I'm just passing my lazy ways onto my kids. If you had some words of wisdom that would be awesome! Toothbrushes, cups, towels, etc. I also color code my calendar and it makes things so much easier. <br /><br />For laundry we have NO hampers. Around the age of two we expect kids to throw their dirty laundry into the open washing machine and the load is ran when it is full. If the lid is closed then they make a pile on the floor. Since we use cloth diapers we do everything in hot. New clothes (which are a rarety) will be washed separately. This keeps dirty laundry from piling up. I will never go back to using hampers again! However, now that I homeschool, I've met a few families with 7 or more. My husband grew up with a large family and my aunt had 8 kids as a single mom (she was always working). Now with just my 4 kids I've always worked outside the home and my husband and I have flipped flopped our schedules so someone would be available to the kids. When you have a large family, you make it work, everyone pitches in and it's a lot of fun. But having a spouse who is able to support such a large family is also a great blessing. In today's society it's sad that families aren't sticking together, and my kids all say, they'd never have more than 2 kids because affording them just seems impossible to them.LMhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17214360611619599465noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-626820356307919755.post-48109594869459353662013-11-15T12:40:13.120-08:002013-11-15T12:40:13.120-08:00Congratulations! I've noticed that your oldest two have chosen paths that don't involve college immediately following high school. With my 3 kids, college is THE ONLY next step in their minds and that holds true with most of our friends with kids of the same age. However, I do believe that way too many kids feel that way - that college is their only option.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-626820356307919755.post-51322521239202877272013-11-13T11:03:58.166-08:002013-11-13T11:03:58.166-08:00You're welcome! It's always annoying to have moms who have a 2 year old and a 4 year old tell me, "We're going to homeschool all the way through high school." My husband and I are in the process of becoming foster parents and hopefully eventually adoption, as well as biological children. I especially love the bit in your post about homeschooling! I am certified as an elementary teacher, and it took four very difficult years of work to get that. I would love to homeschool my children, but I take great offense when people take on the attitude that homeschooling is the only way for all children in Christian homes. I love that- "we are homeschooling". I also love the color coding. We only had two kids in my family, and we still color coded! What a great idea, though! <br />Thanks for posting! <br />www.suzannesthoughts.wordpress.comAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05612454375984316296noreply@blogger.com
