We do other random projects, mostly inspired by things I see online, but having guided lessons from an art teacher helps their skills progress. grtlyblesdhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18386260509307925901noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-626820356307919755.post-54250948543853620652016-01-30T14:35:36.546-08:002016-01-30T14:35:36.546-08:00Love the cubist art project. They do build in some growing room, length wise, but when the residual limb (or stump) grows, it grows in diameter as well as length, and that needs new accommodation when it no longer fits well in the leg socket.
Katie is also on her second leg, but she's more typically sized (5 years old, wearing size 5). She got her first leg in 2013.
So each kid is different. I have a bloggy friend whose son is really hard on his prosthetics (he's a bilateral amputee) and they go through legs more quickly than we do.
Basically, I watch to see if they're walking funny, and when I notice that they are, I call and get them in. As far as special needs go, this has been a pretty easy one. My biggest complaint is a superficial one; clothing. They look lumpy in leggings, they put holes in all pants (Hannah, usually after a single wearing!) and they cannot wear tights at all. Oh, and shoes can be a problem sometimes. Like I said, pretty superficial. I can totally live with these "problems." Especially when I think about what their life might have been like *without* prosthetics. grtlyblesdhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18386260509307925901noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-626820356307919755.post-66250288865688965762016-01-09T10:11:47.751-08:002016-01-09T10:11:47.751-08:00I've been blessed to find some great art resou...I've been blessed to find some great art resources! During growing years do you have to get new legs multiple times in the year? I'm curious how this works.Jessimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05442665425448000014noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-626820356307919755.post-28124155513259696512016-01-09T04:47:13.170-08:002016-01-09T04:47:13.170-08:00I always love your art projects.
