Our Busy Start of Summer Week

Done with school!  Can you see my happy dance?  Although we'll do some educational things throughout the summer, the daily grind is OVER, and we're pretty excited about that.

This cool K'nex car that Eli made recently has moving pistons in the engine!  Let's hear it for the K'nex motors and online directions!

Eli got to help Paul replace the ceiling fan in this bedroom.  The boys are pretty happy to have a working fan in there, since we hit triple digit temps this week.

We went to Story Time at Chuck E Cheese.

I don't think I've taken just 3 kids to CEC in a long, long time.

The kids had a great time, and we'll be working on their reading forms so they can get free tokens next time we visit.

A rather dark picture of Jack working on a science experiment involving gravity from our Moon Dance box from Groovy Lab in a Box.

This one involved a bowl of water and a ping pong ball, and taught about tides and displacement.  One of the things I love about Groovy Lab in a Box is that everything is included.  I don't have to hunt up a balloon, a straw, a bowl, and a ball, it's all already in the box.

Despite the fact that it's summer, Hannah has another 2 weeks of school left.  When she's done with her homework each afternoon, it's Handwriting Time for both her and Jack.  Jack is still working on New American Cursive, and Hannah is trying out a new program.  Review coming soon!

Katie has reached a new milestone!  She has started using the directions that came with her sticky blocks.  I'm seeing a lot of new creations from her lately.  Brayden plays with them, too.  I am thinking I might get him a set in different colors for his birthday in a couple months.

After seeing the multicolored rice at Big Truck Day, I decided to mix our colored rice.

The kids have been loving it!  Not just the little kids, either.  A certain teenager spilled some while he was playing with the tray on his lap while we watched our show together recently.

Our city recently got a new gardening store.  I've been wanting to see what they have to offer, and since I've killed off most of the plants Paul recently planted for me.  One day we picked Sam up at football and went to check it out.

Sam helped me plant our new flowers, and I'm really happy with how they look... for the moment, at least.  I'm not great at keeping plants alive.

Not much in the way of solid plans for next week.  Brayden will be hanging out with us, we'll be going to the park, and who knows what adventures we'll find next?

    1. Thanks, Dawn! Once I get used to Sam's football practice schedule, I'm sure it won't seem quite so busy! Maybe. ;)

    1. Has he been to the K'nex website? There are all sorts of instructions and things there. Unfortunately, Eli has discovered the K by the piece sale area, and has a cart full of pieces that he *neeeeds* to have, lol. http://www.knex.com/info/building-help/

    1. It's a great program. I did a review for them when they were called Einstein in a Box, and we liked the product so much we subscribed to get more boxes. I'm big on zero prep time, active learning. :)

  7. WHOA! That car is awesome! Gonna go find out about the science box you mentioned. "It's all in the box" sounds right up my alley. LOL

Thanks for sharing on Christian Fellowship Friday!

    1. I'm pretty impressed with Eli's engineering skills. He's really developed his problem solving abilities with the k'nex.

Groovy Lab in a Box is awesome. We may need to get some of the "back issues" that they've put out between our review box and our current one. :)
