Getting Ready to Potty Train

Katie is 3.  It's time to potty train.  I haven't bothered up to this point, because frankly, I haven't wanted to deal with it.  First it was serial casting, then learning to walk, then her bathroom was being remodeled...  now, well, now I have no excuse.

This is Paul working in the *almost finished* bathroom.  Isn't it looking pretty?  He assures me that it will be done any day now, and the toilet training can commence.

In anticipation, I picked up a couple things from zulily.  Now, I've potty trained 8 kids, and I know you don't need a lot of "stuff."  I also know that all the "stuff" in the world is not going to make a kid train before they're good and ready to.

But the "stuff" makes it a little more exciting, a little more new, a little more bearable.  Who wants to start things out wearing hand me down trainers from an older brother?  If I'm going to be washing dozens of trainers, it would be nice if some of them were cute, you know?

Plus, there's the extra incentive factor of being able to say, "Keep your Giraffes, or Pandas, or Duckies dry!"

If washing trainers is not going to work for you (apartment dwellers, kids in daycare, etc.), here's a coupon for Pull-Ups.

So we're all ready.  Everything but plumbing to the toilet, which I'm assured is going to happen soon!  (Notice there's no water in there yet?)

We've even got green moist flushable wipes.  Which I got at CVS with a coupon, of course!  You can get your coupon for Cottonelle toilet paper and flushable wipes by clicking below.

You'll be going through more toilet paper as your little one figures things out, so stock up!

Also 35 winners will get a $10 gift card to Target!

Katie has asked for Hello Kitty panties, so that will be the "carrot" we'll start with.  When she can keep her training pants dry all day, she can wear panties.

In the perverse way parenthood usually works out, I'm guessing she'll be potty trained right about the time we head out on our Summer Road Trip.  "Baba!  I haffa go potty!"

Wish me luck!

  1. That is a cute little set! I'm sure she'll catch on quickly. It's a nice "spoonful of sugar!"

  2. I love to see the set. So cute and I think it will really motivate the small one to visit and use the toilet more frequently. LOL
