Glimmer Girls book review and #GIVEAWAY #glimmergirls #flyby

If you listen to Christian radio, you may recognize the name Natalie Grant.  In addition to being a recording artist, she's also the mom of 3 girls, including a set of twins.  And now, she's an author, writing about 3 girls, including a set of twins, who have a recording artist as a mom.  They do say, "Write what you know."

I first saw these books on another blog and thought it was nice to see more additions to ZonderKidz's Faith Girlz line.  We have a dozen of the books in their Sophie series from when my big girls were tweens.  Now that Hannah is getting older, I'm starting to seek out more family friendly chapter books that she might be interested in.  The Glimmer Girls series is intended for girls aged 9-12.

The books got to my house late, so I was only able to read London Art Chase before my post was due.  At first, I thought I was going to have to slog through it.  The opening scene was one of mess and chaos, and over-indulged children.  However, as the book went on, I found myself really drawn to Maddie's character, and rooting for her to find herself in all the noise of her exuberant family.  The book reminded me of the Carole Marsh mysteries that my kids love, with Natalie Grant's character, Lulu, providing the same comic relief that Marsh's character, Grant, does.

Is there somebody at your house who would enjoy London Art Chase and A Dolphin Wish?

Looks like there's more to come from Natalie Grant and the Glimmer Girls.  Miracle in Music City comes out in August, and Light Up New York debuts in November.

    1. Aren't those fun? I like them because they go with all the places we're learning about. The kids like them because they're amusing. :)
