What Oil Day is like at our house

What is Oil Day?  Oil Day is when our monthly box arrives from Young Living.

Each month, either as new issues come up and we need a new oil, or as we run out of something we already use, I make a note on my list.

My Essential Rewards (the monthly program) order gets placed each month on the 8th of each month, so at the beginning of the month, I go in and change my order to reflect what we need for the new month.

A few days later, our box arrives, and everyone wants to see what new things we got, and what they smell like.

They tease me a little bit about being a witch doctor, but they also come to me and ask, "Is there an oil for ______________?" all the time.

I'm so glad I'm able to pass on what I'm learning to my kids.  Hopefully, when they have their own families, they will make more natural and healthy choices from the beginning, instead of starting late like I did.

After unpacking everything, I use a dot sticker to put the name on the lid so I can tell what's what at a glance.

I have since outgrown the box I used to use for storing my oils.  I picked this one up recently, and I think it's got good growth potential for a bit.  When I need more space, I can always separate out the smaller size bottles into my old box.

If you're curious about oils, I'd be happy to answer any questions I can.  If you're ready to get started with them, I'd love to have you in my "oily family."  You can click here to sign up.

Coming soon, a post about Zyto scanning!

  1. I am not a oil person because of extreme allergies, can't handle scented anything, even if it's good, LOL, but we as a family are big into natural anything! All our foods, hygiene items, household products, etc are all organic. I began healthy living about 15-20 years ago, but hit living entirely organic completely about 3 years ago. It has made a huge difference to our life, and even IF given a chance to eat anything bad, my oldest skeptical about eating organic food, would now tell you..." I'm not eating The old way, it tastes BAD". Whereas I just laugh at the change in opinion!!!! Also, our new daughter, who had stomach issues, ironically again, similar to mine, I demanded she be tested for Celiac and as I expected she has Celiac to the doctors surprise!!! She then asked me how it was possible this child has all MY health issues and then proceeded to ask if I was sure, with a huge laugh that she wasn't biological??!!! She then told me with another laugh, when asked about maternal health history, to just put yours!!! And to top it all off, she was allergy tested too,, at my request and is severely allergic, again, like me too!!!! LOL Way to funny! :-)

    1. I have a natural review coming up that you might be interested in. :)

I think it's great that you're so familiar with the symptoms of celiac that you were able to insist on testing for her! What a blessing to her to have a mom who can be her advocate and help her get more comfortable.

  2. My sister is a huge fan of oils, and she sent me some Deep Blue (I think the equivalent with the company you use is Pan Away) and it is amazing the muscle pains it can help get rid of.

My husband hates the smell though :(

    1. Oh, that's so interesting! I *love* the smell of Pan Away. I think it's the wintergreen in it. But I can also relate to being averse to some of the smells. Joy smells yucky to me because there's rose in the blend, and it reminds me of old lady Avon. But Ylang Ylang smells nice. Lots of trial and error, but they're fun to play with. :)

  3. Love those oils at my house! They are becoming my favorite go to. I use thieves daily to avoid getting sick. Lemon oil also smells like lemons one of my new favorites. Shari, thank you so much for sharing your adventures with oils.

    1. I was actually OUT of lemon, and was so glad when it showed up today! I've gotten used to having it in my drinks!

I'm glad you're part of my oily family! :)

  4. I have tried a few oils through a friend....but my kids can't get over the smell (and they haven't found one they like yet). Any ideas?

    1. 2 ideas. 1) try peppermint or lemon. Those are both "familiar" smells. Maybe it's the "weirdness" of other oils that they don't like? 2) apply the oils to their feet and put socks over them. That's about as far from the nose as you can get, with all the oily benefits! :)

  5. I almost laughed out loud when I read you liked the smell of panaway. I do not! BUT, it is one of the ols we use the most because it works so well for muscle aches and growing pains in the boys! Just give me thieves and I am a happy camper! ;)

    1. Thieves is totally my favorite! Lemon is a close second. One of the kids thinks Pan Away smells like soda, which I don't get. The other kids think it smells like "church mints" which must be the wintergreen in it. Have you tried the Deep Relief roll on? Oh my! Bye bye afternoon neck tension!
