Our Week - end of May
This week we wrapped up the final bits of My Father's World, Rome to the Reformation. We also spent the week working on spelling, grammar, math, and watching educational videos for an upcoming review.
Miss Hannah has started a cursive writing curriculum for a review. She heads back to classroom school next week.
Speaking of reviews, Jack is working on something new, too.
We tried a leaf rubbing project from one of our art books, but it didn't work out well.
So I pulled out the scratch paper, and the boys drew their leaves instead.
Jack was frustrated with how his turned out. They were using pushpins to scratch, which is an awkward way to draw.
Eli's K'nex are still seeing lots of action.
This week as planes.
The big kids have finals next week.
The good news is, Thursday will be their last day of school. They're really ready to be done.
I'm loving the warm weather!
We headed to the park to meet some new friends.
It feels so good to get out and enjoy the sunshine.
We have a special visitor coming tomorrow, so next week will probably not involve much in the way of homeschooling.
Thanks for clicking for us!

Just curious about Briana's transition from homeschool to Christian school. How did she like her first year? She always looked like she had so much fun homeschooling.
ReplyDeleteIt's been interesting! She does miss some of the "fun" aspects of homeschooling, but she enjoys the social part of classroom school.
DeleteI think it's a stepping stone between home and independence, in a way. From with family all the time to in school is quite the learning experience in itself, regardless of academics.
She's done well finding her path. Last night was the band banquet and the kids went out for ice cream afterwards. A couple of friends brought her home. It's good for her to be separating gradually and spreading her wings a little bit. It's a transition that's worked well for our family, although I know there are many who prefer to homeschool high school to keep their kids close and out of trouble. I haven't regretted sending any of my older kids off to high school. I probably would feel differently if we couldn't afford to do Christian school, though.
Wow! What a great week! My son is looking over my shoulder at the pictures and is very impressed with Eli's K'nex :-)
ReplyDeleteI've shown pictures of quite a few of Eli's K'nex creations in recent weekly wrap up posts. It's a fairly new obsession for him. It started with a DNA kit I got the boys to assemble when we were studying the body, and it mushroomed. He just rebuilt his roller coaster last night. :)
DeleteOne more question. I love all of the resources you pull together like the DNA kits and the Art Through History projects. How do you find out about all of these? I'd like to include more supplementation like this with my kids. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteGreat question! I'm not sure I have an answer, though. It just sort of happens. Mostly, I see things on other homeschoolers' blogs, or Amazon (who knows me well, lol) makes a "suggestion" for me that leads me down a rabbit trail. Hopefully, when I share the enrichments that we do, it helps inspire other moms to seek out their own extras for the materials they're studying.
DeleteArt In History has been one of my favorites, and I was introduced to them because I read someone's blog review.
Love the leaves, and the K'Nex! Thanks for linking up at Life at Rossmont. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Wendy! :) Off to find this week's linkup!
