Favorite Children's Books for Autumn

The other day, we were in "Toys Fer Us," and I passed a display of autumn/Halloween books.  I picked up a Berenstein Bears book to add to our collection.  When I got home, I thought to myself, I should pull out a bunch of autumn theme books for Hannah to read for her school reading log.

While I had them out, I figured I could share them, in case you are looking for a new fall themed story to share with your children.

I discovered Biscuit books when Jack was a baby, and they're among my favorite kids' books ever.  I used to read the text, and Jack would "read" the WOOF, WOOF! part.

Board Books
Biscuit Visits the Pumpkin Patch
Biscuit Is Thankful
Biscuit's Pet & Play Halloween
It's Pumpkin Day, Mouse! (If You Give...)
The Itsy Bitsy Pumpkin
Corduroy's Thanksgiving

Luke rubs touchy feely books with the back of his hand.  We have a few Usborne ones.  I would love to get him some more of them.

"Readers"
Dora's Perfect Pumpkin
Picking Apples and Pumpkins
Christopher Columbus
The First Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving Turkey (FREE Coloring Book Included!): 25 Thanksgiving Stories for Children

When Zach was little, we had over a dozen of the Berenstain Bears books.  The big kids wore some of them out, they were such favorites.

Picture Books
Happy Halloween, Biscuit!
Happy Thanksgiving, Biscuit!
Samuel Eaton's Day: A Day in the Life of a Pilgrim Boy
. . . If You Sailed on the Mayflower in 1620
Thanksgiving Is for Giving Thanks
The Berenstain Bears Give Thanks
The Berenstain Bears Trick or Treat
Pumpkin Pumpkin
Why Do Leaves Change Color?

Best wishes getting into the autumn season mood!  While I'm not much for pumpkin lattes, I do like autumn leaves and pumpkin decor.

  3. I love seeing parents who encourage reading :) I was so blessed that my parents were very encouraging to us girls to read a ton. I know when I have kids I plan to make it a big priority!

    1. It's so important! I'm very blessed that most of my kids really LOVE to read. In fact, Brianna's high school teacher didn't believe she'd read so many "free reading" books. I had to write her a NOTE, lol.
