9-11
September 11th is not just another day in our household. Being married to a firefighter, it's a day to remember that when everyone else runs away from trouble, my husband runs toward it. It's a day to pray, "God, please keep him safe."
Eli, pictured above, was a newborn on 9/11/01. Today, we watched a video for kids about 9/11 as the start of our school day. The kids' journal topic was 9/11.
Ironically, I have been working on this project the last few days:
Remembering travel, remembering how 9/11 has impacted flying, reminds me that the effects of 9/11 linger on for more than just the ones who were directly affected.
It's a sad day. But it's also a day to have big discussions with the kids. Both of what happened in the world that day, and also our family's personal story. Where we were, what we did, what our family was like then. It's a part of our family history, too.
Never forget.

My thoughts have been with you and all the firefighters on this day. Thanks for opening my eyes.
