Eli (12) was my reviewer this time around, and here's what he has to say about the book:
"It's funny! I like how his crazy cousin, Bash, is always doing stupid stuff, so Raymond, the main character, thinks he's trying to kill him, and it's just really funny. It was a really good and funny book. One of my favorite parts was when they wrapped one of their friends up in flypaper and covered it in living flies and they had him try to fly. And I kinda want to read the second book! 'Cause there's a preview of the first chapter, and it looks good."
I didn't realize there was a second book, until Eli mentioned it. Looks like it's set to be published Spring 2014. This book is hot off the press with a publication date of September 2013.
The story is written in a style tween boys find engaging, with virtual "voiceovers" that tell what Raymond is thinking. Raymond starts out as a lethargic couch potato, sent to his cousin's farm for the summer. With a hilarious series of misadventures, he goes from hating the farm, to not wanting to leave.
To WIN your own copy of Bash and the Pirate Pig, leave a comment telling me the first name and age of the child you hope to win the book for. Giveaway ends 9/30, and winner will be announced after one of my lovely assistants pulls your name from a hat. Or a bucket. Or a box. Whatever's handy when the time comes. Good luck to you!
