After coming home from China, I asked Brianna to select which DVD she would like to do. They have 3 main categories of DVDs: Art Class, Art Projects, and Bible Stories.
Brianna chose Repeated Sweets from the Art Projects series.
There are 4 lessons on the DVD. This cut out represents lesson one, and she used it to "repeat" her design 3 times.
Lesson 4 learning to shade using watercolor.
Adding some shading to her project.
The finished product!
What I love about these DVDs is that the concepts Brianna is learning carry over into other projects. You can see how she combined what she'd learned about Mondrian into her Tiffany Window practice pages in my original review. This time around, she took the flat wash watercolor techniques she learned from Repeated Sweets, and applied them to the fish art class we did at the library.
That's one of the best parts of these DVDs, in my opinion. They get her excited about creating artwork, and then she branches out from the lesson into doing her own thing, like here, where she's taken the "repeat" idea, and using a different medium (colored pencils), she has created a piece about Moon Festival.
Here she did cake slices
And here, she did lollypops, and learned a little something about planning ahead when the "shadow" for the left sucker didn't fit.
See The Light is a great art program for kids who have outgrown Mom's skill set and are ready to move on to more challenging art projects. I am so blessed to have been able to have Brianna review these and learn things that I am not able to teach her. I regret not making art a priority in our homeschool years ago.
You might also be interested in the videos from See The Light that are available on You Tube. These are not the same as the DVDs, but are additional resources. They include a 3 part series called Guiding The Creative Child that has been a featured workshop at homeschool conventions, and more. See The Light has a truly beautiful ministry, and it has been a blessing to our family to work with them.
I appreciate every click! :)
Thank you! I'll have to stop by and check you out! :)
