Monday Miscellany

We have construction going on behind our house.  This was taken with the regular lens, not the telephoto, from one of out upstairs bedroom windows.  It's been interesting to see the progression, and honestly, the thrum of large equipment and beeping of backup alarms hasn't really bothered me.  I'm that exhausted.

Paul suggested we try a pacifier with Luke when we were still in China.  I didn't have one, and pretty much ignored him.  The social worker at the 1 month post placement visit suggested the same thing, so Paul felt vindicated and I bought a 2 pack.

He has no idea what to do with it.
He doesn't suck on it.  He doesn't spit it out.  He just sits there, confused.

He eventually bats it out with his hand.
Pretty much the only thing it's good for is stopping him from grinding his teeth for a moment.

This boy?  Off to summer camp out of state.
He's been gone 2 days so far.
I miss him.
2 weeks is going to be a long time.

The glitter bottles continue to be a big hit around here.
We've made several more, actually.
Unfortunately, there was A Glitter Incident that left a nameless teen boy sparkly, so I put the glitter supplies away.  But the bottles remain mesmerizing to all.

This is what happens when one plays with one's Asian hat under the whole house fan when it is on.
Never a dull moment around here, I tell you.
Never, ever.

  1. I tried making a glitter bottle, and it was a total fail. I wonder why yours worked and mine didn't! I need to try again.

    1. Are you using fine glitter or regular glitter? Regular glitter is heavier and requires a lot of glue to hold it up. You can add more clear gel glue to a "flop" bottle to try to make it work better, too. I think we have about 8 around the house now, and I tend to shake them every time I pass one, lol.
