A Little Mandarin CD review & #giveaway
Three of my children were born in China. I've talked before about ways to expose your kids to foreign language, and one of those ways is through music. That's why I was so excited when I was approached by A Little Mandarin to review their music CD!
The CD arrived in the mail, and while we were listening to the peppy tunes, I realized that one of the tracks is the song Katie used to sing when we first adopted her. You have no idea what a treasure this is to me. I was so enchanted by her sweet little voice singing, "āi yā āi yā bá luó bó!" It was one of the ways we knew she was content. It's so special to finally learn what the song is about, and be able to reintroduce her to it.
It is such a blessing for us to be able to continue to expose the girls to Mandarin in fun ways.
You can find the lyrics to all the songs, in Mandarin (both characters and pinyan) and English on the A Little Mandarin website. You can also listen to the songs online. They're very pleasant!
In addition to our giveaway below for the A Little Mandarin CD, they're having a contest right now on their Facebook page! Download their free Happy New Year song, then share a video of your child singing and dancing to it!

Learning a foreign language really helps everyone to be able to use their brain in new ways. How fun that your kids were able to remember songs in Mandarin!
ReplyDeleteI was so surprised to recognize it! Turns out, it's a common children's song, which makes sense, of course.
DeleteYour children are adorable. I love this CD too, thanks for sharing your feeling about it. Are your children learning Chinese right now? How old are they? Are they attending any Chinese school? I'm a homeschooling mom teaching my kids both English and Chinese. I created a blog to share tips and methods, and some Chinese printbles. My specialty is making Chinese Pre-K/ Kindergarten Theme Packs. If you are interested, feel free to visit my blog at www.fortunecookiemom.com
ReplyDeleteNice to meet you! My girls are 9 and 5 now. They're not in Chinese school. I wish we had one local to us! I'll have to check out your site, thanks!
