I was so excited about getting in on this review! Brianna, age 13, loves all things crafty, so I thought it would be perfect for her.
We had watched a demonstration video at the website before the package got to us, so she was more than ready to get started when it arrived.
Checking out the different supplies: colored tiles, elastic, picture cards, glue stick...
Brianna decided to make the first bracelet for a friend. She used the alphabet cards to punch out the letters in her friend's name.
The square punch in the kit makes it easy to get exactly the right size photos to go on the tiles.
The bracelet maker is designed to make it super easy to slide the elastics in!
Brianna asked me to print a picture of her and her friend together. I went to photosizer.myfbm.com and was impressed with how easy it was to upload pictures, crop them the desired amount, and add them to a single 4x6" photo. We found several pictures she might want to use in future bracelets, and I was able to print them as a single image. She then cut out the one she wanted using the square punch.
There is an iPhone/iPod app that you can use to take pictures for your bracelets, too. To continue the fun after your 54 original tiles run out, you can purchase a refill kit with special glitter tiles! (I think Bri might need a refill kit in her stocking!)
There is a little bit of a learning curve to the elastic key. But once I helped her, we got the hang of it.
The elastic key makes it so that the knots tied in the elastic are hidden INSIDE a tile, and are not visible in the finished bracelet. Clever!
One of the coolest aspects of these bracelets is that they are reversible! This gives you two different looks with one bracelet and allows you to show off twice as many pictures!
The age range on the box is 8+. If they had silver tiles available I would totally wear one myself, and I'm, ahem, significantly older than 8.
Here's Brianna sketching out an idea for another bracelet. She came up with something amazing!
Never content with only one art medium, Brianna combined pony beads with image tiles to create a really unique design! Lots of exciting possibilities here.

ReplyDeleteThat sounds pretty! Brianna is learning to crochet. She's already an accomplished knitter. (I'm afraid she may be taking after me! She's currently doing a knitting pattern test knit! My little reviewer!)
DeleteI made a bunch of handmade cards. I love all things crafty! Thanks for a great giveaway!
ReplyDeleteAmy P
That's great! I feel like we've gotten away from "real" mail. It's so nice to get a card instead of a bill. :)
DeleteI am working on some stuffed animals
ReplyDeleteYou must have more patience than me! I did a couple of stuffed bunnies (out of chocolate no-wale cord, so soft!), and a teddy bear, in like 13 years of sewing? I'd rather do clothes.
DeleteThat looks fun. I have a shawl I am knitting
ReplyDeleteBri is finishing up a shawl, too. :) Hers is beaded.
DeleteWe do a lot of crafts, the last one was a necklace. My little one would love this!
ReplyDeleteHave you done bottlecap necklaces? Brianna did them with her friend once, they're so cute!

We haven't gotten in on the rainbow loom craze yet.

DeleteWe are working on an advent caledar
ReplyDeleteI'd love to hear more about it! I've been wanting to do an advent calendar of some sort, I haven't found one that will work for multiple kids.
DeleteA wreath
ReplyDeleteI used to have a wreath I would randomly get the urge to take apart and re-do. :) I hot glued potporri all over it once.
