Every 6 months, we have a flurry of trips to the dentist. Our dental office is great, and they will book the kids in 2s or 3s, but it's still a few trips before we get everybody in. This was kind of tedious, until Hobby Lobby opened up almost next door. The fabrics pictured above are treasures I found while Brianna, Jack, and Hannah were getting their teeth cleaned.
I wanted to share the virtues of batch sewing, so I folded them all in-facing and stacked them up to cut.
My rotary cutter needs a new blade, so it was more like I perforated the outline and then went back and cut them with the good scissors.
A tantalizing array of prints
All cut out
Serging them all up in a chain
First pair done!
Lukey isn't crazy about being a model.
But I get a couple of okay shots.
Plus lots of this
And a bit of this.
As you can see, Luke is delighted with the second pair, as well.
I like the geometric print on the inside. It reminds me of honeycomb.
And the bee print totally reminds me of Burt's Bees.
Pair 3 is woodland animals on one side, and flaming orange brightness on the other.
I think he needs a brown long sleeved shirt to tone the ensemble down a little.
Josiah's fashion statement has to do with the 20* difference between his corner bedroom downstairs, and the bedrooms upstairs.
And the final pair. "Luke! Hey, Luke!"
"Over here!"
There we go.
So much for "batch sewing." It took me almost 3 weeks to make these four pairs of pants. I used to be so much faster.
Thanks for clicking for us!
Gosh, he is adorable! And that's a great orange!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteCute! I haven't sewn at all since I had my last two kids!
ReplyDeleteI used to sew SO much more. I miss it.
DeleteThe first pic of Luke in the bee print is AWESOME! It is exactly the face my boy would make when he was little!
ReplyDeleteHe's got some doozies when it comes to expressions. I wish I could get him to smile.
DeleteVery cute color combinations! I recognize that pattern, too!
ReplyDeleteIt's a great pattern! I've made a couple dozen of them, easily! Katie is now wearing the ones I made for Hannah, and I remember making them for Eli and Jack, when they were small.
DeleteBatch sewing- what a great idea! I am going to be making some pants to fit over Violet's casts and AFOs and this might be a great way- never thought to cut them out all together! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteBatch sewing makes life easier! I used to do half a dozen shirts or pairs of underwear in a day or two this way.
DeleteI love these pants! I have such a hard time finding what I like out there for my girl. Seems like they're too clingy or are sweatpants or jeans. Great shots of Luke!

Taking pictures of Luke is SO frustrating! He's not a smiley little guy, unfortunately. :/
DeleteThese fit him nicely. He's rather pear shaped. I have to buy his pants big and roll them up, so at least with these, they're *intended* to be rolled.
