Blownup in Paradise #bookreview

Ready for a fun summer read?  The latest installment in Deborah Brown's Paradise series is here!  Blownup in Paradise has all the crazy capers you've come to expect from Madison and Fab:  an accident that someone is sweeping under the rug, a missing animal, an explosive secret spilled at a Weston family dinner...  Add in a little breaking and entering, and the odd-ball supporting characters we're familiar with, and you'll know why Blownup is eye rolling, edge of your seat, and chuckle worthy by turns.

NEW RELEASE....
I’ve come a long way since inheriting my Aunt Elizabeth’s Tarpon Cove house and her beach cottages full of quirky residents. I strap a Glock to my thigh as easily as I slip into flip-flops.

Even Fab is going legit… mostly. When she’s hired to investigate some high-end boat thefts in Biscayne Bay, I go along to do what I do best. Chat up the help to get the real story.

Neither of us expected the case to explode—literally—and take out one of Miami’s richest men. And possibly a mistress, though no one’s found her body floating among the bits and pieces.

Somewhere in the Miami upper-crust’s phony smiles and even phonier alibis there’s someone who wanted to see Marshall Sacks dead. Someone willing to ruin Fab’s and my lives to keep their secret. It’ll take calling in every favor I’m owed to keep us out of trouble.

The Paradise series, are Florida Keys mysteries, “great as stand-alone reads, but they're like chips...you won't be able to devour just one!”

Available to buy from.....

"South Florida author Deborah Brown books are infectious.

"My love for these quirky characters grows with every book! Hope they never end!"

"This fabulous duo exudes so much sassiness and strong willed characteristics that I absolutely cannot get enough of."

About the Author
I've been writing, in one way or another for as long as I can remember; poetry, sappy short stories (my best friend made me swear that I’d never show anyone until I changed the names), and a romance novel shoved under my bed.

I wanted to create books with a wide-range of unforgettable characters, with heat and romance, and lots of guns. It wouldn’t be complete without a slice of humor and charm.

I live with my family and demon children aka rescue cats in South Florida.

Two Graduations

Jack graduated from 8th grade in a class of 3, so 8th grade graduation was combined with a general elementary/middle school end of year ceremony.

Look at all those trophies!  (I'm a horrible mother.  I saw those and thought, "Ugh, we have to sit through all that??")

Katie and Hannah both received a variety of certificates.

It would have been more expedient for some students if they could just stay on the stage and the presenter could give them awards in multiple categories all at the same time.  But I'm not in charge of the world.  So we got to see them go up and down the steps over and over and over.

And there's my graduate.  While he didn't make honor roll for all 4 quarters, he did get an award for Most Improvement.  I was pretty happy about how much progress he made this school year, and glad the school recognized it.

He also grew 3 pants sizes during the course of the year, which has me a little concerned for the "freshman growth spurt" due to happen this coming school year.

Katie and her teacher.

Hannah and her teacher.

Very proud of my boy!

Brianna and Eli had one more day of school than the younger kids did, but I got a Last Day of School picture of them all together, anyway.

Then it was time for Brianna's graduation!  My mom, my graduate, and me.

Walking the stage.

Miss Adorable took a family picture for us.  It's so rare that my 4 girls are all together, I should have gotten a picture of just them, but I didn't think of it at the time.

Brianna and Boy

Afterwards, we went out for frozen yogurt.

I think I caught Bri taking off some of the "extras" here.

Hannah and Katie did really well through the long ceremony.  I think it helps that they were sitting with Annaliese, and I was between Eli and Josiah.

Everybody was SO DONE with school, this was a nice start to summertime.

May Recap

I really have no reasonable excuse for ignoring the blog for so long.  I have a lot of little excuses, of course, but it's not like I've been in traction for the last 2 months.  So here's a little catch up.

Let's start with Mother's Day.  Zach and Brayden came to hang out on Mother's Day.

This was especially special for me, since this guy is now on the other side of our big blue & green ball again.

When you have a bunch of people on a pleasant day, it's only natural that outdoor games commence.

They played football in the street while I did some planting.

I'd taken Katie and Hannah with me to the local Green Acres in the morning.

The unfortunate reality is that many of these plants have since died.  I have a bit of a black thumb.  The tomatoes (not pictured) are actually bearing, though.

Jack had a shoot in Nevada, and my Dad and Step Mom went to watch him.

Tuzi continues to be a delight.  Here, he's "reading" Tale of Peter Rabbit.

It's been too hot for walks since this picture was taken.  He likes having the run of the school room when I'm in there, though.

Paul recently painted the kitchen/dining room.  We got the "baby wall" back up.  Love my small peeps.  Who are no longer small.  Color me nostalgic.

Speaking of color.  You get a better idea of the school bus color the kitchen/dining room ended up being in the background here.  This was Paul and I on our way out the door for lunch.

Back when school was still in session, the elementary had a performance.

It was medieval themed.

Katie had been having a hard time with the idea of summer and the disruption of routine caused by play practice.

But on the night of the event, she did great.

Paul and I always laugh when we take a picture like this.  It looks like we're impersonating a small family.

So last time I wrote, I'd done Star Wars Day at the zoo.  This time, it was World Giraffe Day.  I manned a coloring station.

Miss Adorable was in Peter Pan.

I think Eli went to see it twice.

All that to say, I'm still here.  We're enjoying our summer, although I'm doing less fun adventures with the kids than I'd hoped to.
