Organic Matcha

I had never even heard of matcha before this review!  What is it?  In a nutshell, it's powdered green tea.  It's also pretty amazing stuff, health wise.

Matcha Green Tea Powder from Kiss Me Organics organic matcha contains 137 times the antioxidants as brewed green tea.  Since we're always hearing how green tea is so good for us, I was very interested in trying out matcha.

The first thing I added matcha to was my guacamole.  I got the idea from flipping through the recipe guide that was supplied to me by Kiss Me Organics.  I didn't follow their recipe (which called for 4 avocados and 2 tsp matcha), but instead used my usual guac recipe with one avocado and 1 tsp of matcha.  That was a mistake.  Matcha is powerful, and a little goes a long way.  I ate it, but it was noticeably matcha flavored guac.  I was going more for "healthy, yet subtle supplement."

My next experiment was to add some to the rice cooker at dinner.  I threw in a spoon of matcha, a spoon of powdered chicken soup base, and a cap full of veggie flakes, and no one noticed anything unusual at dinner.  Much better.

In fact, when I gave the girls the leftover rice with black beans at lunch the next day, they both asked for seconds.  I've already made this one again.

I knew I could add some to Luke's cereal without him really caring, since he will eat pretty much anything.  Matcha contains L-Theanine, an amino acid that promotes relaxation and well-being within the brain, so I figured it would be very good for him, in particular.

His cereal looked a little like my guac, but he slurped it right down without complaint.

The kids love getting in on my reviews.  Brianna asked if she could put "some of that green stuff" in smoothies.  I said, "Sure!"

This picture makes me laugh because I had to tell them to STOP DRINKING and let me take a picture!

I think she likes it!  I felt a little like a mad scientist as I found myself adding a spoon of matcha to anything I could, just to try it out.  Cream of Wheat, tacos, chocolate chip cookie dough...

Brianna wasn't watching when I added this while she got the baking soda.

"Mom!!"  The cookies turned out great, and no one noticed my "secret ingredient."

You'll probably want to try some of the real recipes in the downloadable recipe guide.  Or you can be adventurous like me and add it to everything!

Individual results vary, of course, but matcha is said to boost metabolism, increase energy, and improve the health of your hair and skin.  Kiss Me Organics Matcha Green Tea Powder is currently selling for $25 on Amazon.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

  1. Hi. I went to register for Tomoson, and halfway through, when it asked me to select my interests, and the choices were profanity laced and racially insensitive. Is this something you ran into? It occurred under this page: https://www.tomoson.com/account

    1. Wow, I'm sorry that happened! I did run into a few "odd" options as I was entering mine, so I think it must let people type whatever they want as interests. Unfortunately, some people think it's funny to ruin things for others. I'll contact Tomoson and let them know. I've been pretty pleased with my relationship with them so far. I've been engaged in over a dozen campaigns with them.

    2. Holy cow! I sent them a message after I posted the reply above, and BAM! My phone rang a couple minutes ago, and it was Tomoson, profusely thanking me for making them aware of the problem, and telling me that their tech team was all over it and it would be resolved within the hour. Color me impressed.

    3. That's good to know. Maybe I'll go back tonight and try to apply. With the kind of options I saw for personal interests, it made me wonder if the whole thing was a scam. I feel better now about applying.

  2. I love O'Matcha as it brings back memories from Japan. I've yet to use it other than to drink, but I should give it a try.

    1. Feel free to download the recipe book! I keep meaning to try something out of there, but I'm still having fun doing the mad scientist thing for now. :)

    1. Indeed! My 18 year old daughter took the rest of the bag home with her after her Thanksgiving visit! Seems she always orders extra matcha at Starbucks.
