Start of homeschool

The kids are so excited about having a new curriculum, we've sort of started early.
We usually make a big deal about the First Day of School,
measuring/weighing, taking pictures, doing hand prints.
Honoring the milestone that it is.

Somehow, we managed to dig into learning without doing any of that.
Hopefully, we'll get to that next week when The Big Kids start school.

Here, they're making observations in the back yard.

A little at a time over the last couple of weeks, we've managed to finish Week One.

Now, we're taking it a little more seriously.

I'm hoping to finish Week Two in one week's time this week.

I've even added the dreaded math and spelling.

Yesterday, my 3 students took their baseline assessments in math.

Brianna has since taken off in math, achieving an additional 19% of her level after the assessment.

Making Science folders

So far, it's mostly new and interesting and exciting, albeit more work for Mom.

So they're not complaining much yet.

Which makes it easier.  I was so burned out last year.

This curriculum has a lot of projects and a lot of reading aloud and a lot of coloring.

Wait till you see the paper cutout people we made today, lol.

Can I just say, I wish this project had included a template?

Oh, and we've started getting the school supplies out for the Big Kids, too.
Because their school starts in a week.  I'll be making a Staples run to fill in some gaps, but we're almost ready to load the backpacks.
