China Trip: Meet Everett

I'm honored to introduce you to another of the great children I got to meet last month in Beijing.  This is Everett, and he is 8 years old.

Everett's listed special needs are hydrocephalus and hemangioma or birthmark.  His advocate, Sue, feels he may have a syndrome such as Sturge Webber or Nova.  The Holt team had a physician with them, and he told Sue it could be tuberous sclerosis, but the doctor did not formally examine him.

A family interested in Everett needs to look past the uncertain diagnosis and see the sweet boy that he is.  His advocate writes that he was always smiling, and he was "leader of the pack" amongst the boys in his group.  She says that after a while, you don't really notice his birthmark any more, and she referred to him as her "Sunshine."

When asked what he likes to do, Everett said he enjoys playing chess and basketball.  His favorite animals are owls, and his favorite color is green.

Everett said that Aury was his best friend.

Sue writes that he attends kindergarten at the orphange school.  His gross and fine motor skills are on target.  He demonstrated his fine motor skills by making necklaces and painting.

He can do simple math problems.  Sue feels that he has the potential to be an average student in the United States, if given the opportunity.

He is active and can walk, run, and jump, with no problems.  He uses scissors and pencil well, too.

Everett's special needs do not appear to affect his daily life.

Sue feels he will do well in a family, and she would be happy to talk to anyone interested in adopting him.  His file is with Madison Adoption Associates and there is a grant available to help with the cost of his adoption.

  1. I've been having a great time reading your posts! I started at the Great Wall. I've never been, but Leo must have felt like an angel in disguise when he came to rescue you. I hope and pray that this little guy, Everett, finds a mom and dad. Thanks for linking on Amanda's Books and More! My weekend linky is live and I hope you can link up!

    1. Thanks for stopping by, Sue! I love China, too. I'll always be grateful to China for my beloved daughters. Now it's my turn to pay it forward and help other families find their children. :)
