Last day in Nanning, travel, and first day in GZ

Okay, so Friday we visited the minority hand craft shopping area, where we found a couple of small treasures to bring home. This totem reminds me of Alaskan culture.

A reproduction dwelling of the Miao people.

After that, we went to pick up Katie's passport and then we were off to the airport.

Katie did well on her first flight, but, as expected, the seat belt ticked her off. I pulled out a sucker when she started to fuss about it, and she gnawed the sucker during take off. Fortunately, once she was done with the sucker and starting to get annoyed again, the flight crew served snack. Water bottles and tomato crackers. Now, I like Vegetable Thins, so I figured these would be similar. But they were more like tomato soup flavor. Paul says they're like a Bloody Mary on a cracker. I wouldn't know. Katie liked them. Luke even had a couple bites. We are trying to get him to expand his limited food repertoire. We offer little nibbles of lots of interesting things. Today he had waffle (spelled Wa Fo at the buffet) and finally managed to consume a bit of watermelon. Usually, he just holds it in his mouth.

At any rate, we got into Guangzhou last night, made it to our new hotel, checked in and went to bed.

This morning, we were ready to explore a bit.

Our view includes a waterfall.

And the swimming pool. Keep in mind these were taken before breakfast, between 7-8 a.m.  People are already swimming.

The babies slept in the sitting room.

Another view.

And this is the bedroom.

After breakfast, we were off to the medical exam.

Waiting to go from station to station. It's like a cross between a preschool and the DMV.

Luke being weighed.

And Katie being weighed.

I find it highly amusing that there's a wine vending machine in the lobby.

After the medical exams, our little group was off to Trust Mart to pick up water and groceries.

Then we went out to lunch, where Paul asked to try a local beer. Um, yeah. Methinks something got lost in the translation. Budweiser is hardly a local beer. Lunch was good, though, and then our guide took us for a walk around the area near our hotel. Looks like we have lots of local dining options.

After lunch we had our paperwork appointment with our guide, and now we are attempting to do Nap Time. Luke is having none of it. I need to figure out how to adjust the room temp. It's so air conditioned, it's actually chilly in here.
