Air Plants GIVEAWAY

Have you ever heard of air plants??  I knew nothing about them prior to this review.  But I was intrigued by the idea, and immediately started a Pinterest board with ideas while I awaited my review plants.  You do follow me on Pinterest, right?  ;)

I didn't have to wait long!  The Air Plant Shop shipped my plants quickly, and they were carefully wrapped in pretty pastel tissue paper to protect them in transit.

For the first one, I got out an old fishbowl from when Annaliese had a beta fish.  I put craft sand in the bottom and popped the little plant inside.

Isn't it adorable?  I think it needs a seashell and a little rock in there for balance, but it's pretty cute all on it's own.  Brianna claimed this one, and despite the fact that Hannah was trying to be helpful and watered it, it's doing well on her desk.

Next, I asked Paul if he had a drill bit that would do BIG holes.  He said he could do a 1" hole for me, and I thought I would like to use a wooden block as a "planter."  When he heard what I was doing, he rummaged around in the garage and came up with a block of wood and made this for me:

Wasn't that sweet of him?  I love it when his "acts of service" love language collides with my "gifts" love language.

The plant above actually has a "pup" starting.  I read in the ebook that came with my plants that you can separate the pup from the mother plant once the pup is 1/3 to 1/2 the size of the mother plant.

I picked up a few things at JoAnn's, since I had a gift card and a coupon.

Glass planter and glass marbles

This lovely ornament globe was on clearance!  I love that!  The little plant inside seems really happy in there, too.  I've been misting the air plants daily, and I think the mist lingers a little longer within the glass.

I'm planning to have the kids paint these cute little cheap pots that I found.  The nice thing is, I don't have to worry about "uprooting" the air plants.  I can take them out, dump the marbles, have the kids paint the pot, and put everything back together again without any damage to the easy care air plants, since there's no soil or root system to deal with.

You should check out all the amazing varieties that The Air Plant Shop carries.

Aren't these beautiful?  I have a weakness for purple.

Would you like to win a set of classic air plants?  The Air Plant Shop has generously offered a set of 5 air plants to one of my readers!

    1. They're pretty cool. The red one is even nicer in person. It's my favorite right now, but the one in the "large" pot is getting ready to bloom, so I might change my mind when that happens.

  6. My favorite gardens are outdoor gardens, but with the long cold winters, I get antsy for some green. For that, my favorite thing is to make fairy gardens and I gotta say, air plants are terrific for fairy gardens.

  11. I'm not much of a gardener, but these plants look really intriguing and easy to grow! I've tried peppers and tomatoes in the past, but my other family members are the ones who can really make plants thrive. I don't have quite the same green thumb. :)

  19. We just recently found a retiree that grows Angel Trumpets as a hobby, and we bought three from him! One will be for my future Mother In Law. Two of these are coral, on blooms single and the other double. Then we found a unique one that grows wider than tall; it is white with a yellow center; it's named lemon meringue. We have a few pepper plants and want to plant some other things as well. Thanks so much for the chance to win those cute plants! God Bless!
