Has winter hit you like it's hit us? The heater is on, you're a little more sedentary, you're not drinking as much water, and BAM! Suddenly your skin starts letting you know you're not treating it right.
Brianna tends toward skin issues. She's latex sensitive and breaks out with weird skin issues more than the other kids. So reading about just how natural Habe Naturals is helped me feel comfortable letting her try their Hand, Foot & Body Cream. Their ingredients are things I can pronounce, things I have in my own house, not strange chemicals.
As a plus, it smells yummy!
One of the not so fun parts of adoption is when your kids display self-injurious behavior. All 3 of mine have done it to some extent. The girls tend to do it when they're being corrected. Luke beats his head with his fist or pulls his hair when he's frustrated.
I mention this because Miss Katie has some scratches on her face right now. When I tell her, "No, you need to let Hannah play with her _______ and you play with something else, like your kitty piano," she starts gouging at her face. Sigh.
Change of routine, even good changes like Christmas and Hannah being off track for the month of January, can be hard for a little one who's still trying to figure out where they fit in.
On the day I took the photo above, I smoothed our new Habe cream on her cheeks and asked her to look out the window so I could take a picture. She wasn't sure what I was going for here, and doesn't smile on demand yet, so I got some rather stoic shots. However, the next time she saw me pick up the Habe cream? She strained to get her cheek closer to my hands. She knew it would feel good on her face. Applying the Habe cream to her face before bed has become part of our routine that she enjoys.
Are you ready to WIN?
Habe Naturals also sells an Herbal Acne Kit.
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Winter means lots and lots of lotion. Unfortunately I am never pro-active about it and never remember to start using lotion until my skin is dry and cracked and awful.
ReplyDeleteI'm the same way! Unfortunately, I don't usually start carrying or applying sunscreen until after the first burn of summer. Sigh. You'd think by 40 I'd have that one down...
Deletesounds like a nice cream, I hope your younglings figure things out quickly so they stop hurting themselves...
ReplyDeleteThank you. Most days, adoptive parenting is just like regular parenting, but some things can be very different and take you by surprise.
DeleteLooks nice. Does it have petroleum in it?
ReplyDeleteP is also super sensitive.
Nope! Olive oil, beeswax, coconut oil, and tea tree oil. :)
DeleteMy skin gets *terrible* in the winter. My hands (knuckles and cuticles) get so dry, they'll actually crack and bleed! :( I'm still searching for the perfect heavy duty lotion. So far, I've found that Udderly Smooth works well enough, but there HAS to be something better out there!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I was doing the crack & bleed thing big time last winter when we got 3 sick toddlers from Safe Families. I was washing my hands so much I washed my fingerprints off! The print tech asked if I was a nurse, because nurses wash a lot, too.
DeleteMy daughter is very sensitive, she breaks out from everything! She was so sad when she received Bath and Body Works bubble bath, because she knows what happens!
ReplyDeleteOh, that's sad! Some of those smell so wonderful. I've been on the quest for a *natural* liquid hand soap with a smell I love.
DeleteI would love to try this!
ReplyDeleteThanks for entering!
DeleteMy daughter also has bad skin issues, like myself, so I would love to try this!
ReplyDeleteGood luck!
DeleteI basically bathe in lotion in the winter, LOL. But I constantly switch them up to keep my skin guessing, although I'm not sure why.
ReplyDeleteOh, that's funny! :) I have a different lotion on my desk, on my bedside table, and in my bathroom, so I guess I do the same thing. I never thought of it that way.
DeleteWith lots of lotion esp. in the winter, here in MI!
ReplyDeleteThanks for entering!
DeleteI make a scrub with coffee grounds and coconut oil.
ReplyDeleteI bet it smells delightful!
DeleteI use Bert's Bees in the winter (and all year round)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the contest.

I use Burt's Bees lip gloss. :) And their apricot baby oil smells *amazing*!
DeleteLots of lotion, all the time!
ReplyDeleteI try to keep my skin as hydrated and protected as possible from drinking more water and taking baths now and then to using stronger lip conditioners and lotions.

Working from the inside out is a great plan! I have such a hard time getting enough water in.
DeleteTons of lotions/oils. I honestly don't do it enough. Oh, and drinking as much water as I can convince myself to drink!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reminder! Off to grease up and refill my water bottle. :)
DeleteMy 8yo daughter has such dry skin, despite our best efforts to keep her moisturized- she still feels like, in her words, a scaly lizard! I'd love to give this a try. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteAw, poor thing! No girl wants to feel like a lizard! Good luck!
DeleteI try to put lotion on my hands often, especially after washing. I also use that foot file thing and put lots of lotion on my feet after showering:)

I have a foot pumice stone. :) I mostly use it in the summer. We tend to go barefoot in the house most of the time, but I find myself in shoes more in the winter when my toes are cold.
Deletebecause i get very dry and peely skin
ReplyDeleteLots of lotion, long pants and long sleeve shirts!
ReplyDeleteThanks for entering!
Deletei drink lots of water and use vaseline on my feet
ReplyDelete4mariemh atgmaildotcom
Interesting! Do you put socks over it?
DeleteI usually just use vaseline.
ReplyDeleteI think you'll like this better. More natural, and just as effective. :)
DeleteHaven't really found anything that helps, so I just make sure I have gloves on when I'm going out in this weather. Fingers still crack though, wonder if this would help?
ReplyDeleteMaybe you'll get a chance to try it out and let me know. :)
DeleteI try to make sure I'm always drinking a lot and switch to thick shea butter creams!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds nice! I recently got to try out a shea and almond lotion. It's a yummy smell!
DeleteI switched to dishwashing soaps that have a moisturizer added but other than that I don't do anything to prevent just lots of lotion after the fact
ReplyDeleteI hadn't thought about the soap aspect! I remember my mom's dermatologist told her to wash with just water when her hands got really bad because her skin couldn't handle harsh soaps. Hmm, now I'm wondering if changing up my soap might help me? Thanks for the food for thought!
DeleteLots of moisturizing lotion. I have a health condition that makes my skin very sensitive and dry. So I use lots of lotion and don't use soap on my face.
ReplyDeleteI bet this would be great for you! Simple, healthy ingredients, no harsh chemicals. Good luck to you!
DeleteI usually use Aquaphor, but I really want to go organic!
ReplyDeleteIn the tub or the tube? Honest Co makes a balm in a tube that's an "unpetroleum" jelly type product. I like that one, too.
Deleteeucerine face cream with aquaphor on the dry spots!!!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you've got a regime that's working for you. :) Thanks for entering!
DeleteI use lotion on my skin every day!
ReplyDeleteYou're more disciplined than I am! I have a hard time remembering to work myself into the routine, lol. I'm better about putting it on Katie because I see it on the changing table.
DeleteI use body butter, however, in the winter, my skin doesn't want to stay moisturized longer than 10 minutes. I have tried so many products, but none really do much.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds so frustrating! I wonder if you're dehydrated? Less caffeine, more water?
