October Art Class

Today was our October Art Class at the library with Ms Julie of Just Add Art!  Here she is, showing us some owls in a book, pointing out colors and shapes.

We learned about primary, secondary and tertiary colors, and mixed a variety of things to make our own brown shades.

Mixing, mixing, mixing

And then we started to paint on our brown construction paper owl cutouts.

After the cutout, the kids the option of making a "background" for their owl.  This is Eli's background.  The owl on the right is a lake reflection of the larger owl.

Since Hannah doesn't go back to school until Monday, she was able to join us this time.

Filling in the eyes

And the finished product!
(Hannah broke the nose piece off her glasses at the library.  Fortunately, Baba fixed it by taking a screw off an old pair of his glasses.  What a great dad!)

Bubba decided he didn't like his background after all.

Hoo!

And poor Jack was having a hypoglycemic meltdown by the time we got home, so was in no mood for a picture.  He had a nice rage and then I pumped a juice box and some lunch into him and he transformed back into a human being.

I can't wait to see what we make in art class next month!
