Distracted much?

At lunch time, I threw some chicken breasts in the crock pot for dinner.  ...and that's it.  No seasoning, no water, no lid on the crock pot, nothing.  When I discovered this (about an hour later), I decided I really did need a nap, so after fixing my dinner disaster, I got the kids settled and went to bed.

When my, "Go pick up Hannah" alarm went off, I was dreaming that I was driving a golf cart in China.  Anyone who has been to a big city in China can tell you that's a bad idea, lol.  It was scary.

I've gotten to the point that I'm relying a lot on post it notes.  There are review deadline post its on my computer monitor, there are post it pads on my bedside table for those "as soon as you turn off the light and get comfy, you remember something you really need to do tomorrow" notes, and I've taken to putting important reminders on both my bathroom mirror and my cell phone.  I can literally forget something from the van to the house.  I'm choosing to call this adoption related dementia.  And it really confirms for me that I'm not up for another adoption after this.

I have hit the nesting phase, and now that we're finding our post-hosting groove again, I've made the time to work on PACKING.  When we adopted Hannah, all her stuff was completely packed by the time we had LOA, so I was feeling a little "behind" this time around.  Silly, but there it is.  This process isn't known for making people more rational.

Since taking this picture, I pretty much unpacked half of the suitcase to fit the babies' backpacks in.
It's looking like I'm going to have to have some of this go in Paul's suitcase, or I won't have any room for MY clothes, lol.

I've had fun picking up a few boy/girl matchy or coordinating toys and outfits for the little ones.
I'm not taking a whole lot of toys, but it will be nice to have a few things to entertain them with on the long, LONG flight home.

I read something that was posted on facebook recently that mentioned the "hamster wheel of insomnia" and that phrase really resonated with me.  When I try to sleep, I find myself hopping on that hamster wheel and thinking of our trip, meeting the babies, meeting the nannies, meeting the foster mamas, what could go wrong with travel, what I should bring, all the things I need to remember to do before we leave, what I should put in the Operations Manual that I'm leaving behind with the kids, and on and on and on!

Fortunately, it looks like we'll be seeing some forward movement with our paperwork soon.  Our immigration officer emailed me this morning and said that now our payment has cleared and she would process our I800 applications today.  Once we receive the paper approval in a few days, we can email the National Visa Center and request the next document to be emailed to us, which we then forward to our agency, which they email to their contact in China, who prints it out and hand carries it in to be processed.  Then we wait two weeks.  I'm really looking forward to waiting for something different, as funny as that sounds.

If you could pray for me, please pray that I will be able to sleep better and be more focused on the present, and that our paperwork would progress smoothly from here on out.  I can't wait to get my hands on my babies!    Also, our fundraiser garage sale is this weekend, and we are hoping to raise money toward our travel costs.  Please pray that God would prompt people to be generous.  We did our last garage sale on a donation basis.
