Pinned it and DID it - Window Clings

I recently pinned a post about making your own window clings out of glue tinted with food coloring.

We decided to give it a try.  I bought some food coloring and enlisted Brianna to help me shake.

It takes a while for glue and ANYTHING to mix.

But eventually, it was ready to use.

I printed a couple of coloring pages,

Stuck them in page protectors,

(drew a candy corn) and away we went.

Eli came up with the brilliant idea of sliding his paper down a little and fitting TWO bats on the same page protector.

Really, this was just a genius way for me to get the kids to wash a window willingly.  I'll have to tell them we're making "back door clings" next time.  :evil laughter:

We had a hard time getting them to stick, so Eli resorted to taping his up.

After letting them dry about 3 days prior to putting them up, I decided maybe they were a little too thick?

They kind of curled a bit, and were generally unruly.  All in all, I'd say this was another pin-flop for us.  Although, I'm not opposed to the idea of trying again, if I can find different directions and make changes to how we do it.  I'd love for it to work.  It would be cute to change them out regularly.

Like I said, I think I live a Cake Wrecks life in a Pinterest world.

    1. I've since seen some other pins using puffy paint instead, so I'm thinking we'll give it another shot. Snowflakes, maybe?

  2. I replied to your post on my tutorial. We had the same issue with them not sticking till we used a wet paper towel to dampen them before sticking them to the window. http://wemadethat.blogspot.com/2013/09/halloween-window-clings.html

    1. We did get the first one wet, but I think we got it TOO wet, as it started to leave glue smears on the window.

I hope your window clings turn out better than ours did! Now I'm "stuck" trying to figure out what to do with all this colored glue!
